Certification
Market requirements
Each importing country sets its own rules for foreign halal certificates. This page summarises the main ones. It was last checked on 19 October 2026. Rules change, so please confirm with the authority concerned and with us before you ship.
United Arab Emirates
UAE rules require establishments to hold halal certificates for their final products and raw materials from halal certification bodies registered by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT). See Standards and regulation.
Indonesia
Foreign halal certificates must be registered with BPJPH, the Indonesian halal agency, before products are sold in Indonesia. The foreign certification body must have a mutual-recognition arrangement with BPJPH, and the importer or the foreign business's official representative makes the registration. BPJPH set 17 October 2026 as the deadline for mandatory halal certification of imported food, beverages and slaughter products. The rules for other product groups differ, so check the current rule before you ship.
Malaysia
Imported food and goods may be described as halal only if they meet Malaysian requirements or are certified by a foreign certification body that JAKIM recognises. JAKIM publishes the list of recognised bodies. Imported meat and poultry also need plant approval by Malaysian authorities.
Singapore
Muis does not certify food made overseas. Imported food relies on foreign halal certifying bodies that Muis recognises, listed on its website.
Saudi Arabia
Imported shipments need a halal certificate where one is required. Meat, poultry and raw edible gelatine need a halal slaughter certificate from halal centres recognised by the Saudi Halal Center.
Qatar
The Ministry of Public Health publishes a list of halal bodies authorised to certify food for Qatar.
