Certification
After certification
What happens once you hold a TGHA certificate: validity, surveillance, renewal and changes.
Your certificate: validity
Your TGHA certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue. The scope, the sites and the validity dates are printed on the certificate.
Surveillance audits
During the validity period TGHA audits your site to confirm it still meets the requirements. Surveillance audits take place in the first and second year of the certificate. TGHA may also carry out an unannounced audit where it receives a complaint or has a concern about compliance.
Renewal
Please start your renewal at least six months before your certificate expires. TGHA sends you a reminder before then. The renewal audit is a full audit of the products and sites in scope.
If your certificate expires before renewal is complete, it is no longer valid, and you must stop using the certification mark and any reference to certification until a new certificate is issued.
Tell us when something changes
Please tell TGHA in writing before you make any of these changes:
- New products, or changes to existing products
- A new or changed ingredient, additive, processing aid or supplier
- Changes to the production process, equipment or cleaning methods
- A new site, or a change of site layout
- A change of company name, ownership or management
TGHA will assess the change and tell you within 5 business days whether an extra audit is needed. New products within your certified scope are added to your certificate by amendment once they are approved.
Use of your certificate and the mark
A halal certificate and the certification mark may be used only for the products and sites named on the certificate. UAE rules do not allow a halal certificate or mark to be used for products it was not granted for. Misuse can lead to suspension or withdrawal, as described in the Suspension and Withdrawal Policy.
