The Organisation

An international certification body

As an international certification body, we carry out audits and present certification. We certify manufacturers and service providers to improve their trade, while promoting the improvement of the overall hygiene and quality standards of products.

Vision

The global leader in Halal certification — setting the benchmark for integrity, trust, and excellence worldwide, where every Halal-certified product is recognised with confidence.

Mission

Transparent, rigorous, globally trusted certification — upholding the highest standards of compliance through precise verification, expert guidance, and uncompromising integrity.

  • Impartial by design

The certification decision sits with an independent committee, deliberately separate from the audit team.

  • Backed by qualified auditors

Technical specialists in food safety, pharmaceuticals, and quality management review every application.

  • One consistent standard

Every certification follows the same documented audit framework — no shortcuts, regardless of scope or market.

What We Certify

Nine categories, one standard

Consumable and non-consumable scopes across the entire Halal supply chain.

09 categories Consumable & non-consumable
See the 8-step process

Scope 01 / 09

Meat & Poultry

Slaughterhouse approval, Shariah-compliant slaughter verification, and full chain-of-custody audit from lairage to cold store.

  • Slaughterhouses
  • Chain of custody
  • Stunning review

What we assess

  • Slaughter method and slaughterman competency
  • Segregation from non-Halal lines and equipment
  • Traceability from lairage to dispatch
The Certification Lifecycle

Eight stages, from enquiry to renewal

Every application follows the same controlled path, with an independent decision at the end.

  1. Client action
    01

    Application Submission

Submit your product and site details through the online portal. Our team confirms receipt and assigns a certification officer.

  2. TGHA review
    02

    Application Review

We assess scope, sites, product lines, and raw-material sources to confirm eligibility and prepare a costed proposal.

  3. Agreement
    03

    Certification Agreement

Scope, obligations, and terms are formalised. Both parties sign, and the audit programme is scheduled.

  4. Stage 1 audit
    04

    Document Review — Stage 1

Desk assessment of your Halal management system, ingredient declarations, supplier certificates, and process flow.

  5. Stage 2 audit
    05

    Certification Audit — Stage 2

On-site audit of production, segregation, storage, cleaning validation, and Shariah compliance in practice.

  6. Impartial decision
    06

    Review & Final Decision

An independent certification committee — not the audit team — reviews the evidence and makes the certification decision.

Impartiality by design. The committee that decides is deliberately separate from the team that audited you — no auditor signs off on their own findings.

  7. Issued
    07

    Certificate Issuance

Your Halal certificate is issued with defined scope and validity, and TGHA confirms its status to anyone who asks.

  8. Ongoing
    08

    Surveillance & Renewal

Scheduled surveillance audits and automated renewal monitoring keep your certification continuously valid.

01 How long does Halal certification take?

Timelines depend on scope, number of sites, and readiness of your documentation. The lifecycle runs through eight defined stages, from application to certificate issuance. Your certification officer confirms indicative dates once the application review in Stage 2 is complete.

02 Which markets recognise a TGHA certificate?

Recognition varies by destination market and product category. Tell us your target market and we'll confirm what applies before you ship.

03 What does the certification audit cover?

Stage 1 is a desk review of your Halal management system, ingredient declarations, supplier certificates, and process flow. Stage 2 is an on-site audit of production, segregation, storage, cleaning validation, and Shariah compliance in practice.

04 Who makes the certification decision?

An independent certification committee reviews the evidence and makes the decision. It is deliberately separate from the audit team, preserving impartiality in line with certification-body good practice.

05 What happens after my certificate is issued?

TGHA records your certificate with its defined scope and validity and confirms its status to anyone who asks. Scheduled surveillance audits and automated renewal monitoring then keep the certification continuously valid.

06 Can you certify a site that also handles non-Halal product?

It is assessed case by case. Our application captures whether Halal and non-Halal run on the same line, what is outsourced, and where non-Halal sources enter the process. Segregation and cleaning validation are then reviewed in detail during the audit.

07 How much does certification cost?

Fees depend on scope, site count, product complexity, and travel. Submit the pre-application enquiry and our team will prepare a costed proposal. Information you provide is treated as confidential and used only for price estimation.

08 Do you certify non-food products?

Yes. Alongside food, TGHA certifies cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare products, herbal products, cleaning products, packaging, animal feed, and logistics and storage operations.

09 How long is a TGHA certificate valid?

Your certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue. The validity dates are printed on the certificate. See "After certification".

10 What happens at renewal?

Please start renewal at least six months before your certificate expires. TGHA carries out a renewal audit and issues a new certificate if you still meet the requirements.

11 Can I add new products after I am certified?

Yes, but please tell us before you launch them. TGHA reviews the ingredients and process and tells you whether an extra audit is needed. A certificate covers only the products named on it.

12 Can I move my certification to TGHA from another body?

Yes. Send us your current certificate, your latest audit report and your product list. See "Moving to TGHA from another certification body".

13 What documents do I need to prepare?

Typically a product list, process flow charts, ingredient and supplier lists with halal certificates for higher-risk materials, and your cleaning and training records. See "Prepare for your audit".

14 Does TGHA test products in a laboratory?

Where a risk cannot be settled by documents and audit, TGHA may ask for a laboratory test. See "Product testing and sampling".

15 How can I check that a TGHA certificate is genuine?

Email the certificate number and the company name to info@tgha.ae. We confirm the status (valid, suspended, withdrawn, cancelled or expired), scope and validity dates. See "Check a certificate".

16 What is the difference between certification and accreditation?

Certification is the decision that your products meet the halal requirements. Accreditation is an independent body's confirmation that a certification body is competent and impartial.

17 Does the UAE require halal certification?

UAE rules say products presented as halal must comply with the UAE halal system, and that establishments must obtain halal certificates for their final products and raw materials from certification bodies the authority accepts. See "Standards and regulation".

18 Can I use the TGHA logo on my packaging?

Only certified clients may use it, only for the products and sites named on the certificate, and only under the Certification Mark Usage Policy. Please send us your label artwork for approval before you print.

19 What happens if I fail the audit?

Non-conformities are graded as major or minor. You receive a written report and a deadline to correct each one: 30 days for a major non-conformity and 90 days for a minor one, unless your certification officer agrees another date. If a major non-conformity is not corrected in time, TGHA does not issue or renew the certificate, or suspends the existing one under the Suspension and Withdrawal Policy.
